CCI National Nomination & Election Procedures For the CCI National Executive Board of Directors


Executive

The Executive Board manages the property and business of CCI National on a day to day basis. The Board shall consist of not fewer than five (5) and not more than eight (8) persons. The members of the Executive Board shall be a Chairperson, President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer and no more than four (4) Directors-at-Large. The Chairperson, President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer shall become officers of the CCI.

Nominating Committee:

Each year there shall be a Nominating Committee, consisting of the National Chairperson, one past president, and a chair of each of the CCI-N Membership and Chapter Relations Committees and the Chair of the National Council. If any of these identified members, have the intent to submit their own names as nominees for the National Executive Board, they shall be recused from participating on that year's Nominating Committee, and the National Executive shall appoint another candidate, representative of their classification. In preparing its slate, the Nominating Committee shall use its best efforts to ensure that the Executive Board represents each of the Regions designated by the National Council, and shall have regard to any member of the CCI who has, between June 1st and August 1st, submitted a request to be nominated by the Nominating Committee to be voted upon as a Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, and/or Director-at-Large in that calendar year.

Chapter Regions are described by policy as:
Region 1: Vancouver, North Alberta, South Alberta
Region 2: N. Saskatchewan, S. Saskatchewan, Manitoba
Region 3: NW Ontario, London, Windsor, Golden Horseshoe
Region 4: Toronto, Huronia, Ottawa
Region 5: Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick

Election:

The Nominating Committee of CCI shall seek potential national executive nominees from the members of the National Council, National Committees and National Executive Committee, and, at the option of the Nominating Committee, from the membership of CCI at large. The members of CCI shall elect individuals as Vice-President every two (2) years (even years) and Secretary-Treasurer every two (2) years (even years) from the candidates proposed by the Nominating Committee. The nominees shall be determined by the Nominating Committee from members of the National Council, National Committees, National Executive, and the members at large. The Nominations Committee shall develop a proposed list of nominees and recommend whether a formal slate or a formal election will take place at each general meeting of CCI National. The members shall elect members of the Executive Board in accordance with the CCI-N bylaw. In the years in which a Vice-President or Secretary-Treasurer is elected, the election for the Vice-President or Secretary-Treasurer will take place immediately before the election for the Members at Large.

Terms of Reference – National Secretary-Treasurer

Term:

Each elected member of the Executive Board, with the exception of the Chairperson, President, and Vice-President, shall serve for a two (2) year term and shall be eligible for re-election either as a Director-at-Large, or as a Secretary-Treasurer. For succession purposes, the individual who is elected as Vice-President shall become a member of the Executive Board for a period of six (6) years (automatically moving from Vice-President, through the positions of President and then Chair) or until his/her resignation or removal.

Nomination Process:

Any CCI member in good standing may submit their wish to be considered by the CCI National Nominating Committee, by completing the CCI-N Nomination Form, and submitting it to the CCI-N Chairman or the CCI National Office, between June 1st and August 1st of the calendar year. (Nomination Forms may be found on the CCI National Website and will be emailed to all Chapter Board members in early June of each year.) In addition, the Committee may solicit qualified potential nominees from among the membership.

The Nominating Committee shall meet during August/September to review the submissions received and to develop a proposed list of nominees and recommend whether a formal slate shall be presented for approval or rejection, or that a formal election will take place, at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. All members who have submitted a CCI-N Nomination Form will be notified in mid-September, and those who are selected will be asked to submit a short biography which can be circulated in early October with the complete CCI National AGM package to members.
