Electric Vehicle Charging in Condominiums

From the CCI Manitoba Summer 2024 Condominium News and Views Magazine

Federal government incentives expire on Sept. 19

At the CCI Manitoba summer 2024 Presidents’ Forum held June 26, an often-mentioned topic was what to do about electric vehicle charging stations in condos. CCI Manitoba has published two articles about electric vehicles in past newsletters.

As a business partner of CCI Manitoba, SWTCH, a leading Canadian EV solutions provider specializing in condos, never stops looking for ways to add value and improve the livability of condominiums; it’s what it does. I spoke with SWTCH director of customer experience Jason Cruickshank at the CCI lunch & learn on June 20, when he told me SWTCH can guide condo boards through the application process and help install top-quality EV charging solutions in your building.

Cruikshank said SWTCH is excited about the latest round of funding available to condo corporations wanting to explore opportunities to embrace the future of transportation. Natural Resources Canada has opened the final round of its Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), which offers substantial funding for the installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in multi-unit residential buildings.

Key highlights of the program:

  • Up to 50 per cent of total project costs can be covered
  • Funding includes necessary electrical upgrades
  • Applications will be accepted for a limited time

With the new Electric Vehicle Incentive Program in Manitoba encouraging greater EV adoption, now is the perfect time to consider adding charging infrastructure to your property. There's no commitment required until after funding decisions are made. However, as this is the final round of ZEVIP funding, we encourage all interested residents to act quickly.

For further information about the funding program and EV chargers. SWTCH produced a webinar that can be accessed here.

If you'd like more information or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Cruikshank at sales@swtchenergy.com and take a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future for our community.
