CCI National Update

From the CCI Huronia Fall 2024 Condo Buzz Newsletter

CCI National had a wonderful National Leaders Forum (NLF) in Halifax Nova Scotia in June of this year, thanks to the efforts of the National Events Committee. Members from all seventeen Chapters from across Canada attended two full days of seminars dealing with everything from membership growth to managing risk. We also shared a few lovely meals together in beautiful Halifax and learned about its history.

CCI’s National Committees continued to be hard at work dealing with a variety of topics from risk management for the organization to facilitating dialogues at a provincial level with law makers on topics of concern for Condominium communities including affordable housing, adequacy of reserve funds, risk management, insurance, aging in place, and asset management.

The Governance Committee also undertook the rewriting of the bylaws to refresh them, modernize them, and anticipate that they will be passed at the next NLF in November. The funding model was also approved and implemented and will support the efforts at the National level. National has also financially support Chapter initiatives including supporting the development of education for Managers in Alberta, which is a relatively new undertaking as Alberta’s legislative framework evolves.

CCI National has also been exploring ways to connect the country via National Webinars to keep everyone update on Condominiums and Stratas. The National Executive experience has been very rewarding over the last six years by allowing me to take a deeper dive across the country on issues that are common and important to Stratas and Condominiums in Canada. Having a national perspective has been rewarding.
