The jurisdiction of the Condominium Authority Tribunal (the “CAT”) has recently expanded. Given the relatively low cost to a self represented unit owner pursuing a claim with the CAT, Boards need to approach managing and resolving conflicts with unit owners in a more constructive way.
Informal conflict management emphasizes discussion and problem solving to encourage unit owners into compliance with their obligations under Declarations, By-Laws and Rules instead of trying to force compliance which can often escalate matters.
Our panel will discuss the roles of board members, property managers and other professional advisors in this approach, and when it is not an appropriate to do, so as part of the takeaways from.
