Hands Up If You Know Where Your Agenda Is

Does anyone else feel like New Year’s was simultaneously yesterday AND six months ago? We’re currently in that dark period. After the December holidays, and before spring, when leaving the house is especially hard.

Does anyone else feel like New Year’s was simultaneously yesterday AND six months ago?

We’re currently in that dark period. After the December holidays, and before spring, when leaving the house is especially hard. Meanwhile, the lack of colour, lights, and feel-good music in the shopping malls can really be a damper. Especially when shopping malls are the extent of most outings.

Having a reason to get together and break from our daily routine, can make all the difference when trying to survive a Canadian winter. But… those February holidays really sneak up on us, putting a lot of us in situations where we say to ourselves “if only I planned this earlier.”

So, get your agendas ready, because we have a list of upcoming events you can plan ahead for!

Valentine’s Day (February 14th, 2023)

It’s the same day every year. Yet, how many of us can honestly say we put in the time to plan something special?

Whether single, married, or divorced, there are plenty of things you can do for Valentine’s day.

For those of us wanting to show a little extra appreciation for that special someone in our lives, it’s best if you start planning today (if you haven’t started already).

You know your partner best. So choosing between a fancy evening out, to a cozy night in is up to you.

Dinner and a movie not your style? Try one of these options:

  • Paint night
  • High tea
  • Couple’s massage
  • Pottery lessons
  • Art gala
  • Cooking class
  • Craft your own beer
  • Wine tasting
  • Paintballing
  • Visit a museum
  • Check out some local theatre or music scene
  • Galentine’s Day

The great thing about celebrating Galentine’s is… you can pretty much do the above list with your group of friends! Otherwise, you can also check out your local restaurants to see if they’re doing any Galentine’s promos. You’d be surprised how many places have a special drink, platter, or dining promotion so that even if you’re not in a relationship, you can still celebrate the red holiday. It’s a fun reason to get together with your friends.

Family Day (February 20th, 2023)

Family Day is often overlooked because it doesn’t necessarily mean your office is closed that day.

However, as a parent, you really notice once Family Day rolls around. If you can, try to book the day off to organize some fun activities. If not, check local resources for day camps. Schools, community centres, churches. Even your Facebook neighbourhood groups can have some great suggestions.

Otherwise… check out these options for planning a family day of fun!

  • The movie theatres, and take advantage of those arcades!
  • Arcades
  • Board game cafes
  • Museums
  • Trampoline parks
  • Indoor obstacle parks
  • Sports arenas: archery, nerf, soccer, skating, etc.
  • Art cafes
  • Music lessons
  • Once you start Googling, you’d be amazed how many fun activities there are in your area.

The above lists are a great way to start. So grab your agenda and start planning today!
